| News Archive | The Press-Enterprise, August 22, 2002 Bono Plans Inland Tour 44TH DISTRICT: The congresswoman will visit Perris and Moreno Valley on Friday and Saturday. By Marlowe Churchill U.S. Rep. Mary Bono, who is running for re-election, will be making three appearances in the Moreno Valley-Perris area Friday and Saturday as she tours her 44th Congressional District during the congressional recess. The Palm Springs Republican will first attend the Riverside County Leadership Prayer Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Friday. The meeting will be in Harrison Hall at the Lake Perris Fairgrounds, 18700 Lake Perris Drive. Also on Friday, she will visit the Riverside County Integrated Care Communities child-care center for a 10:30 a.m. tour. The facility, which is adjacent to Riverside County Regional Medical Center on Nason Street, near Cactus Avenue in Moreno Valley, opened Aug. 1. The nonprofit child day-care center specifically caters to commuters who live in Moreno Valley. The center is open from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and can care for as many as 120 children per eight-hour shift, or 240 children each day. The facility also can care for mildly ill children, which keeps working parents from missing work. On Saturday, Bono will attend the M*A*S*H* Bash, a Moreno Valley Community Health Foundation event at 8 p.m. at March Field Air Museum. The museum is at the Van Buren Boulevard offramp of Interstate 215. The congresswoman represents a vast section of Riverside County, stretching from Blythe to Moreno Valley and Perris and also including the Coachella Valley, Idyllwild, Beaumont, Banning and Hemet. Bono has been in Congress since 1998 and was re-elected in 2000. She faces Elle Kurpiewski, a Rancho Mirage Democrat, in the November election. Return to News Archive Main Menu |
